Jane's Studio

Jane's painting studio is built on an irregular shaped site overlooking Newlyn Harbour.
Previously, two smaller buildings (a former shop and a store) sat on the extreme corners of the site. The replacement building now sits centrally, back from the site perimeter.
The plan of the new studio is a segment of a circumference, the center of which, is beyond the site boundary. This shape was partly suggested by the shape of the site.
I like that it suggests being part of a bigger whole.
The construction is timber frame clad with Larch and hung-slate.
Internally, exposed roof ties constrain the thrust of the roof.
